Before we get into bugs, some people have been asking for me to put some sentences. I'm not exactly good at my grammar just yet so let's just keep it to some basic phrases. Now "How are you?" is pretty simple. I'm also going to write down how it sounds since Romaji is not always spelled like it sounds. Genki desu ka?(GENKEE DESS KA)To respond all you need to say is Genki desu. (GENKEE DESS)Which

Fact of the Day: Halloween in Japan
Halloween is a sorta new holiday in Japan since they knew about it from American pop culture. Jack-o-lanterns are popular, but trick or treating is not. Dressing up in costume is usually only for private parties.

A Look Into History: Bloody Sunday (1905)
Bloody Sunday was an event in 1905, when several groups of Russians marched peacefully to present a protest to Tsar Nicholas II. They protested that they needed better working conditions, wages, and some other things. Also an end to the Russo-Japanese War (which Russia later lost) was a list of demands. The Tsar did not care to meet demands (there was also a depression going on) of working

A Look Into History: The Katana
While American usually refer to any type of Japanese or "Samurai Sword" as a Katana it usually refers only to a certain type of sword from Japan. Modern katanas in Japan are only slightly curved and usually no longer than 73cm and no shorter than 60cm. It replaced the longer and curvier Tachi as the Samurai's favorite sword. Samurai would usually carry a Katana and the smaller Wakizashi. Like how

A Look Into Video Games: PSX
PSX eh? No, this is not a post about the original PlayStation. It used to be nicknamed PSX back before the PS2 came out since PS sounded weird. Now most people call it the PS1.Sony did release an official PSX but only in Japan. It was basically Tivo meets PS2. It also didn't even come with controller, you had to buy it separately. It's high price tag pushed away consumers, and in the end they

A Look Into Video Games: Let There Be Light For My Gameboy!
In Japan they got one version of the original Gameboy system we failed to recieve. It was called the Gameboy Light, and it featured a back-lit screen so you could play in the dark. A standard for any modern device, but it would take Nintendo until 2004 to have a true back-lit system with the Nintendo DS. Really awesome light behind the screen. The GBA SP was front-lit but they did introduce a

A Look Into Video Games: WonderSwan
The WonderSwan was a handheld created by Bandai in 1999 to compete with Nintendo's Gameboy. In never took off outside Japan, but was a decent hit there. It was actually designed by Gunpei Yokoi, the creator of the GameBoy. It sported mostly a bunch of ports and some original Japanese games. Some notable games included Megaman and Bass. A year later they put out the WonderSwan Color. It didn't

Fact of the Day: Pachinko
Las Vegas is a miracle of a city. However our friends in Japan don't have a real counterpart of their own. However they do have a craze that reminds me of Las Vegas, and they call it Pachinko. Instead of a few major city's main economy being set around casinos, these Pachinko parlors are everywhere. The point of Pachinko is to obtain as many little silver balls as you can. You play again by using

Things I Like: Kill Bill Vol. 1
This was really the first Quentin Tarantino film I've ever seen. Actually saw it on TBS when it first came out on TV. The movie was samurai movie meets Western weirdness all in one. The fights were awesome, the story was pretty sweet, and you really didn't know what to expect next. I thought Go-Go Yubari was a pretty awesome villain. O-Ren Ishii was also a great fighter. Gave her a better battle

A Look Into History: USS Indianapolis
The USS Indianapolis was huge warship used by the United States during World War II. This baby had a couple years of heavy service under heavy fire and important missions. Well until it was sunk by a Japanese submarine in 1945. Despite sinking about 900 men survived the torpedo bombings. However they were stuck in the water most of them without life boats, food, or water. They also had to survive
