A Look Into Video Games: Captain N: The Game Master

I never saw the series when it came out, however I have seen a few clips and pieces over the years. The show stars Kevin Keene as Captain N or something. Just some kid stuck in video game land. He meet some random princess. Teams up with Simon Belmont...Wait when did Simon Belmont look like a dork? He looks like he's ready for a Norwegian expedition to Antarctica not Dracula's Castle in Eastern

Nintendo Posts a $927 Million Dollar Loss

After a horrible launch with the 3DS, Nintendo had to do price drops among other things. Now they almost lost a billion dollars. They're not out of the game, but they are going to have to seriously reshape their game-plan. I could see them maybe trying to do shameless classic NES ports to smart-phones at least the Android phones.

A Look Into Video Games: Gameboy Camera

I think for many of us, when we were kids this was our first digital camera. It had horrible resolution, no color, and you could barely tell what anything was besides some faces. Yet it was really fun. I think the best combo was it with the Gameboy Pocket. Though you could still use it on a GBA. At least the original one. But yeah the Gameboy Camera was more of turning your pictures into

A Look Into Video Games: Let There Be Light For My Gameboy!

In Japan they got one version of the original Gameboy system we failed to recieve. It was called the Gameboy Light, and it featured a back-lit screen so you could play in the dark. A standard for any modern device, but it would take Nintendo until 2004 to have a true back-lit system with the Nintendo DS. Really awesome light behind the screen. The GBA SP was front-lit but they did introduce a

Japanese Words For The Day: Music

Music is OngakuPratically the rest of the instruments are based on the English word. Violin is Balorin.Guitar is GitaPiano is Piano, there is not really any change. Flute is Furuto Drums are DoramuOcarina is Okarina. Had to do this was because of my favorite game Ocarina of time.

A Look Into Video Games: Slippy Toad

Slippy was by far the most annoying member of the Starfox crew. He would just babble babble babble. Or get stuck on some strange planet. Seriously froggie? He was worthless in both Gamecube games. I don't know how on earth he got engaged though.

A Look Into Video Games: WonderSwan

The WonderSwan was a handheld created by Bandai in 1999 to compete with Nintendo's Gameboy. In never took off outside Japan, but was a decent hit there. It was actually designed by Gunpei Yokoi, the creator of the GameBoy. It sported mostly a bunch of ports and some original Japanese games. Some notable games included Megaman and Bass. A year later they put out the WonderSwan Color. It didn't

A Look Into Video Games: Captain Rainbow

Captain Rainbow was a 2008 video game made exclusively for the Wii and released only in Japan. It was also a game published by Nintendo themselves. Captain Rainbow was exactly bragged about being the best game ever but it certainly had it's own charm and style. It also featured washed up and deformed versions of classic Nintendo characters like Birdo and Little Mac.

A Look Into Video Games: Rauru

Rauru was the Sage of Light in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. He made sure Link had time to grow into a hero, and gave us cool time traveling powers. After the events of Ocarina of Time, I guess he just died. He makes a cool window though in Wind Waker.

A Look Into Video Games: StarFox 2

StarFox was a big hit on the SNES, so did you ever wonder why they never made a sequel until the N64? Well they actually did, and they even finished it. But Nintendo wanted a gap between 2D SNES games and 3D N64 games even though they had almost 2 years to work with. The game seemed to be a step up from the first game. Better graphics, more characters and probably more planets to fly through.

Things I Like: Donkey Konga

This was actually one of my first music games. It hit gamers a wee bit before Guitar Hero and Rock Band stole the show. Donkey Konga used a bongo drum as it's gimmick in the music genre of games. I actually enjoyed this device more than most others. It was fun and simple, just like how it should be. Not five fingers on six keys while hitting another key with the other hand. It's a shame the

A Look Into Video Games: Mario & Wario

Mario is such a popular series, that we usually get every single game that ever came out with our favorite plumbers. Back in the day we did miss a few however. One of them was Mario & Wario which debuted on the Super Famicom which was the Japanese version of the Super Nintendo. I guess one of the reasons why we never got the game was because it was controlled by the SNES's mouse. It was a point

A Look Into Video Games: Game & Watch

Long before the Gameboy, Nintendo started pumping out these little LCD handheld devices that played little games on there. Some ranged from simple game ideas. However some famous Nintendo franchises also got some love. I had the one based on Donkey Kong.

A Look Into Video Games: Earthbound 64 (Mother 3 Beta)

Earthbound was a fan-favorite hit from the SNES. So fans were hoping for a sequel on Nintendo's next system, the N64.Fans were teased with an early view of Earthbound 64. It apparently had very good graphics back in the day and looked pretty promising. Granted I guess it was somewhat okay they let the game go since the graphics look like junk now. Earthbound did a get a Japan-only sequel called

New Wii Bundle Ditches Gamecube Support

Coming to America later this month is a newly designed Wii. It's not really any different except it has no Gamecube controller slots and won't play your Gamecube games. Oh and they also give you New Super Mario Bros Wii, and a Super Mario Bros Galaxy Music CD as an "apology" of sorts. I guess it's not a big deal, but it now means that all 3 console makers have given half-hearted attempts of

A Look Into Video Games: Link: The Face of Evil

Link: The Faces of Evil is known as one of the worst games in history. Even though I've never played it (never even had the system) I know a lot about it. Basically Phillips gained the rights to some Nintendo franchises after a failed deal between the two companies to make a SNES add-on. This was one of them. It was known for it's awfully drawn FMV cut-scenes. Provided a lot of good and funny

Things I Like: Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix

Before Mario got his own DDR game, I had only briefly played the arcade ones. I didn't have a PS2 at the time, so my choices were pretty limited when it came to music games.Luckily Nintendo and Konami were smart enough to make a dance mat for the game. It sounds like a basic idea that's required but I've seen dumber things done by video game developers than leaving out a dance mat for a dancing

Things I Hate: Wave Race: Blue Storm

I was huge Gamecube fan back in the day, and this one of the first games Nintendo put on the plate. Apparently Wave Race 64 had a solid fan-base, and this seemed to be a very promising sequel. Since I've never played Wave Race 64, I can't really tell how different the two games were. I've seen some screen-shots and videos, and they don't seem drastically different. Regardless if it's true to it's

Rad Racer Review

Despite being in Nintendo's "Sport Series' this title was not made by Nintendo themselves. It was actually a pure creation of Squaresoft, the folks behind Final Fantasy. Was their racing game as fantastic as their RPGs? No, not even close, and I'm not even a Final Fantasy fan.Rad Racer today is no more than a bare bones racing game with awful graphics, but a decent sense of speed. You go from

Things I Like: Gameboy Pocket

Though I might of had an original model NES, I never owned the original Gameboy. My cousing had one, so I have played on it, but never had the big brick myself. This is what I bought with my hard earned allowance back in the day. I remember going to Toys R Us, taking my ticket to the counter, and getting my brand new handheld. Then the screen froze, and I had to get another one. I was a little
